Abstract:

This is an one hour introductory talk on differential graded (dg-) categories. In contrast to the triangulated category structure of homotopy categories, dg-categories are rather natural enhancements of derived categories. We will go over the dg-category setting and discuss its pros and cons. If time permits, we will sketch the category of dg-categories.
