COVID-19 Transmission and Control: Mathematical Modeling Perspective
Naveen K. Vaidya (San Diego State University)

Abstract:

Even after more than a year of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, its transmission mechanisms and effective control strategies still remain uncertain. Despite the development of vaccines, the pandemic poses continuous threat due to emergence of multiple strains, and non-pharmaceutical controls still need to be practiced properly. In this talk, I will present data-driven mathematical models to explore virus transmission routes, including direct transfer through person to person contact and indirect transfer through environment. I will demonstrate how our transmission dynamic models can be applied to uncover effective controls and to devise ideal strategies for curbing epidemic surge.
