Recent Developments in Moonshine (III)
Miranda Chih-Ning Cheng (Korteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics and Institute of Physics, University of Amsterdam)

Abstract:

The aim of the lecture series is to introduce the audience to recent developments in the study of moonshine phenomenon, which refers to a special relation between modular objects and finite groups. First I will introduce the necessary background knowledge on finite group representations, (mock) modular forms and conformal field theories. Second I will discuss the classical case of monstrous moonshine. Finally I will explain the recent developments including umbral moonshine and beyond.
