The Development of a Nite Element Method for Three Dimensional Photonic Crystals
So-Hsiang Chou (Bowling Green State University)

Abstract:

In this talk we introduce a Petrov-Galerkin nite element method to compute the band structure of a photonic crystal with either an SC or FCC structure. We also justify the use of computational cell instead of the physical primitive cell. The method reduces to the well-known Yee's scheme when an SCC structure is involved. This method is well suited to create fast eigenvalue solvers.
