In this talk I will discuss the equation of prescribed Levi curvature. The main focus will be about symmetry problems, and their relationships with the degeneration of ellipticity of the associated operator. I will also present a characterization result in complex space forms (obtained in collaboration with V. Martino) for pseudoconvex hypersurfaces with constant kth-Levi curvature under an assumption of horizontal parallelism.
