Inversion at the boundary for dynamical elastic equation
Gen Nakamura (Inha University)

In  this  talk we will  discuss  about the  so  called  boundary  determination problem  for  dynamical elastic equations. This problem asks about identifying the density, elasticity tensor of an elastic medium  as  well  as  their  derivatives  at  the  boundary  of  medium.  When  the  elastic  tensor  is isotropic, the uniqueness was given by L. Rachele in her very bulky paper: Comm. PDE,, 25, 2000, pp. 1951-1996 which has 45 pages. Since then it has been left open to give an inversion. We will give an  inversion for  the isotropic  elastic  equation and  a  near boundary  surface layer stripping algorithm to identify the density and elasticity tensor as well as their derivatives. Our inversion is quite powerful and general which can be applied even to the case elastic tensor is anisotropic.
