Abstract
(1) In the first part of the talks, let me give a survey on the construction of holomorphic automorphic cusp forms on higher rank classical groups from elliptic modular cusp forms of level one invented by Tamotsu Ikeda in the case 
. I will explain the recent progress in this topic due to Ikeda and Yamana beyond "level one".
(2) In the second part of the talks, I will explain my recent work on the Ikeda type construction for 
. This is a joint work with Professor Henry H. Kim in university of Toronto.
