The NCTS is pleased to announce that Prof. Jungkai Chen has been awarded the 2022 National Chair Professorship by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China. It is the second time Professor Chen has received this great honor - he was named a National Chair Professor by the Ministry in 2014. Prof. Chen is currently a chair professor at the National Taiwan University. His research interest is in algebraic geometry, where he is highly regarded for his profound contributions in birational geometry. For his outstanding research achievements, he has received numerous national and international honors. Among them, he was an invited speaker in the section Algebraic and Complex Geometry at the International Conference of Mathematicians 2018 in Rio de Janeiro. Prof. Chen has been closely involved in the activities of the NCTS from almost the very beginning. He has served as the Phase IV director of the Mathematics Division of the NCTS from 2014-2019 and has played an influential role in the growth of the Center. He is currently the program organizer of the NCTS Scientific Program Algebraic Geometry. The NCTS is very happy to congratulate him wholeheartedly on his occasion.
