The NCTS is pleased to announce that Prof. Chia-Fu Yu has been selected as a recipient of the 2024 Academic Award from the Ministry of Education.

Prof. Yu earned his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently a research fellow at the Institute of Mathematics, Academia Sinica. His expertise lies in the geometry of Shimura varieties modulo p. Recently he and his collaborators introduced innovative tools from the theory of local models of Shimura varieties and G-shtukas to study Shimura varieties of Hodge type. For his outstanding research, Prof. Yu has twice received the Outstanding Research Award from NSTC. Over the years, he has been an invaluable member of the NCTS and a key figure in the NCTS Program on Number Theory and Representation Theory.
