Congratulations to NCTS Scholar Prof. Richard Schoen received the World Laureates Association Prize in Computer Science or Mathematics

The NCTS Mathematics Division is pleased to announce that Professor Richard Schoen, an emeritus chair professor from Stanford University and UC, Irvine, is awarded the World Laureates Association Prize in Computer Science or Mathematics.

Prof. Schoen has been the NCTS Scholar since 2016 and also served the NCTS International Advisory Committee during 2016 -2020. He was one of the founders of the field of Geometric Analysis. His pioneering works include solving the famous Positive Mass Conjecture in general relativity, Yamabe Problem and Differential Sphere Theorem. The Chair of the Selection Committee reported that Richard Schoen’s five-decade careers is one of unparallel impact on mathematics. He has solved seemingly intractable problems through revolutionary theorems, created new mathematical tools that redefined analytical frameworks in geometric analysis and inspired generations of geometers through his pedagogical insights and groundbreaking methodologies.” The NCTS wishes to take this opportunity to congratulate Prof. Schoen again on his achievements.
