Beyond Endoscopy, Character Identities and Theta Correspondence

Abstract:
The theta correspondence gives a way of explicitly constructing some instances of Langlands functorial lifting. In this talk, we explain how one can derive character identities relating the character of a representation and its theta lift. We also explain how this identities seem to go beyond the usual theory of endoscopy in several ways.
