Kuranishi Structure and Virtual Fundamental Cycle/chain Technique

Abstract:
We will explain the notion of Kuranishi structure and the construction of virtual fundamental cycle/chain. We start with the question: why we need such things. This talk is followed by another one in November concerning the construction of Kuranishi structure on moduli spaces of stable maps.
