Two-strain Epidemic Models with Vaccinations in Complex Networks
Chun-Hsien Li (National Kaohsiung Normal University)

Abstract:

It is well known that many infectious diseases, such as influenza, dengue fever, cholera, and malaria, are caused by more than one pathogen strains. The presence of multiple strains of a pathogen complicates our ability to combat the diseases. To prevent and control the spreading of infectious disease, vaccination is an effectively and commonly used method. Thus, studying the impact of vaccination on the epidemic dynamics of infectious disease is an important topic. In this talk, we present a study on two-strain epidemic models with vaccinations in complex networks. The formulae for the associated reproduction number corresponding to each strain are derived, respectively. Besides, the conditions of the existence andthe global stability of the strain dominance equilibria and the coexistence quilibrium are investigated. Numerical simulations are conducted to illustrate the theoretical findings.
