Helly's theorem on the intersections of convex sets has a long history with a number of deep generalizations and variations. One possible generalization deals with geometric transversals, where instead of intersecting a family of convex sets by a point, we want to intersect the sets by a k-dimensional affine subspace. In this talk I will go over some recent results and open problems in this area.
