Propagation in a Shifting Environment
Thomas Giletti (University of Lorraine)

Abstract

In this talk I will discuss the large time behavior of solutions of various reaction-diffusion equations with a shifting heterogeneity. By shifting, we mean that the parameters depend on a moving variable with . This typically arises in the modeling of population dynamics ongoing a modification in environmental conditions (due to either climate change or invasive predator species...). If time allows, I will consider two situations depending on whether the diffusion or the reaction term contains such a heterogeneity. We will see that this type of heterogeneity may give rise to a wide range of outcomes, including nonlocally pulled speeds or threshold phenomena. The results that I will present have been obtained in collaborations with Juliette Bouhours, Gregory Faye and Matt Holzer.
