Sheaves on Nilpotent Cones and Representation Theory
Wille Shih-Wei Liu (Academia Sinica)
Abstract
The geometric representation theory has multiple origins, one of which is T.A. Springer's foundational work in 1978 on a geometric construction of the irreducible representations of the Weyl groups of semisimple Lie algebras - the singularities of the nilpotent cone contain enormous interesting information about the represenation theory. That work has nowadays been re-interpreted and generalised in many ways and it proves to be an inexhausable source of new results.
The modest goal of this talk is to explain the classical result of Springer and to explore some of its generalisations.
