Comparison Principle and Its Applications (II): Spreading Properties of Monostable Two-species Competition-diffusion Systems
Jin-Zhi Phoong (National Taiwan University)
Abstract
We are considering the classical monostable Lotka-Volterra two-species competition-diffusion system. In this talk, we will discuss the spreading properties of the system. Super-solutions and sub-solutions are carefully constructed to study the spreading behavior. In particular, we focus on the observation that the weaker but faster competitor is able to outpace the stronger but slower competitor by invading unclaimed territories first.
