Existence and Stability of Spike Pattern in a Three-component Food Chain Model
Shuangquan Xie (Hunan University)

Abstract

In this talk, we investigate the profile and stability of spiky solutions in a three-component food chain model with small diffusion rates for predators. The conditions for the existence of a stable positive solution (coexistence of three species) consisting of spikes in the first and second predators are provided with a hybrid of numerical and asymptotical methods. We show that when the consuming rate is high enough, the second predator can survive, and further increasing the consuming rate leads to the Hopf bifurcation, which induces the oscillations of spikes in the positions.
