Abstract

In this instructional talk we plan to explain the connection between the geometry of affine Delige-Lusztig varieties (ADLVs) and the basic locus of certain Shimura varieties modulo a prime number. The goal is to describe the results of Xuhua He, Zhou Rong, Yihang Zhu and Sian Nie on the set of J_b-orbits of irreducible components of  ADLVs, and their arithemtic applications to basic loci. This is based on joint work with Jiangwei Xue and Yasuhiro Terakado.
