Permanence Versus Impermanence for Lotka-Volterra Model of Three Competing Species with Seasonal Succession
Lei Niu (Donghua University)

Abstract
We discuss the permanence of the Lotka-Volterra model of three competing species with seasonal succession, which exhibits that populations experience an external periodically forced environment. Such a system can be viewed as a bridge between the concrete discrete-time competitive mappings and time periodically forced differential equations. By exploiting the carrying simplex theory for competitive dynamical systems, we present a comprehensive classification of permanence and impermanence based on inequalities involving the model parameters. The global dynamics in each permanent or impermanent class will be discussed. This is a joint work with Yi Wang and Xizhuang Xie.
