Cuspidal Cohomology for GL(N) Over a Number Field

Abstract
The classical Eichler-Shimura isomorphism relates the space of cusp forms of a given weight to the parabolic cohomology of the modular curve. In the broader context of automorphic forms for higher-rank groups, the existence of cusp forms with prescribed weight is captured by the non-vanishing of cuspidal cohomology with appropriate coefficient systems. In this talk, I will first review the progress on this theme for GL(N) over general number field, highlighting key developments. I will then present recent results from my joint work with Raghuram.
