Aim & Scope
Algebraic geometry has long been a vital and active discipline within mathematics. Over the past two decades, significant breakthroughs have occurred in this field. Notably, the groundbreaking work on the minimal model program and subsequent contributions regarding the boundedness of Fano varieties have driven deep and new understandings of higher dimensional geometry. Moreover, recent advances in K-stability theory related to Fano varieties have further propelled progress. Additionally, various newly developed techniques and perspectives, including enumerative geometry, derived geometry, and tropical geometry, have enriched the field even more.
Algebraic Geometry in East Asia (AGEA) is the largest conference in the region focused on algebraic geometry. It is co-organized with our research partners from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam and takes place every two years recently among the participating institutes. AGEA has a history of approximately 25 years, starting with its first event at Kyoto University in 2001. Since then, the conference has rotated locations, being held in Hanoi in 2005, Seoul in 2008, Taipei in 2011, Peking in 2013, Tokyo in 2016, Hanoi in 2018, and Seoul in 2023. Thanks to the ongoing support of NCTS and partner institutes, it has gained significant international recognition. In 2025, Taiwan will host the conference for the second and the first time at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan.
Most algebraic geometers in East Asia attend the AGEA conference to share their research and discuss modern trends and new ideas. This event provides an excellent opportunity for Taiwan's research community to maintain global connections. Through this special event, we anticipate stimulating research across the island and promoting local algebraic geometers on an international scale.
