Aim & Scope
The purpose of this event is to inspire undergraduate students to explore diverse academic and career pathways through first-hand experiences shared by outstanding young scholars currently pursuing graduate studies abroad or possessing extensive international academic experience.
Rather than focusing solely on overseas education, the event aims to encourage students to think critically about interdisciplinary learning, research opportunities, global perspectives, and long-term academic planning.
Invited Speakers
Jakin Ng (Stanford University)
Jakin Ng is an incoming PhD student at the Institute of Computational and Mathematical Engineering at Stanford University. She received her S.B. in Mathematics and Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making) and her M.Eng. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her research interests lie in scientific computing, machine learning, and AI for science, with a particular focus on partial differential equations, data-driven modeling, and computational methods for the physical sciences.
Ng began conducting mathematical research through the MIT PRIMES program in high school, working on algebraic combinatorics. At MIT, she continued to pursue interdisciplinary research spanning scientific computing, machine learning, physics, and applied mathematics, with a focus on data-driven approaches towards addressing scientific challenges.

Ting-Yuan Guo (National Taiwan University)
Ting-Yuan Guo is a master’s student in mathematics at National Taiwan University, where his research focuses on the Boltzmann equation. His academic interests lie in the mathematical analysis of kinetic equations and the use of analytical methods to better understand the behavior of solutions arising in kinetic theory.
Guo began developing his research experience through the Undergraduate Student Research Program (USRP), which he participated in during his undergraduate studies. Through the program, he learned how to read mathematical research papers effectively, exchange ideas with fellow students, and seek guidance from faculty members. The experience also taught him how to adapt to the challenges and uncertainties of mathematical research, strengthening his motivation to become an active, resilient, and independent researcher.
