1. Course Background & Purposes

Background: Riemannian Geometry, some knowledge of PDE

Purpose: To introduce advanced undergraduates and early graduate students to current research in geometric flows, with a focus on mean curvature flow and inverse mean curvature flow in Euclidean space.

  Lectures    1. Preliminaries on Parabolic Partial Differential Equations

                    2. Geometry of Hypersurfaces and Examples of Extrinsic Flows

                    3. Singularities of Mean Curvature Flow

                    4. Long-time Existence in Inverse Mean Curvature Flow
